In the debut of Radamel Falcao García, Millonarios salvaged a draw in their first match of the Liga Betplay 2024-II against Independiente Medellín. It was a 1-1 game played at the Atanasio Girardot stadium.
In the first half, Medellín had the first chance before the 10th minute in a play that started with Luis Sandoval, who passed to Jersson González, and he took a soft shot at Iván Arboleda.
Around the 15-minute mark, Andrés Llinás made a passing error, and Sandoval recovered the ball, heading straight for the area, but once again the shot went straight to the hands of goalkeeper Arboleda.
In the 30th minute, Millonarios had their first shot on goal in a play where Cristián Graciano cleared the ball backward, and Eder Chaux had to act to prevent an own goal. Eight minutes later, the Ambassador had another chance, this time with Delvin Alfonzo, who took a powerful right-footed shot that barely missed the DIM goal.
In the 43rd minute, Medellín would open the scoring with Brayan León Muñiz, who battled for the ball with Llinás, won it, and then finished between Arboleda’s legs to find the net.
In the second half, Millonarios had their clearest chance with Falcao, who came on at halftime, and he had a one-on-one with Eder Chaux, which the DIM goalkeeper won.
Around the 76th minute, the capital team came close again with Danovis Banguero, who executed a wall pass with Leo Castro and entered the area to take a right-footed shot directly at Chaux’s hands. In the end, Santiago Giordana became a hero for Millonarios in a play where the forward found the ball at the edge of the area and took a strong right-footed shot to beat goalkeeper Chaux and secure a point in the debut.
