The tragedy took place on a beach in the town of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). This Sunday afternoon, several people were injured by falling tree branches according to information from I say BFM.

A 6-year-old child was killed while three other people aged 13, 23 and around 60 were seriously injured. Helicopters were mobilized to transfer the victims to the hospital. According to the first elements collected by BFM DICI, the victims would be tourists from Toulon, Dunkirk and Orléans.

For several days, the south of France has been crossed by strong gusts of wind. An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy. The town hall of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon has canceled the festivities planned for Sunday evening in the town on the occasion of the village festival and shares its “upheaval”.
