Fallout 4 will get a free new generation version in 2023

Bethesda revealed last week that Fallout 4 will get a free new generation update sometime in 2023.

The 2015 RPG was initially released for Windows, PS4 and Xbox One, but will now come with custom improvements for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and Windows to support the latest new hardware features. The update will come with a high-performance mode that allows for a higher frame rate and “resolution options” that allow for a better visual experience when playing in 4K. Bethesda also promised to add “additional Creation Club content” for fans.

News of the new update came as part of a blog post in which Bethesda announced the end of the 25th Fallout celebration. Since it will come for free, all owners of previous versions on older devices will be eligible to own it. For example, the PS4 version will give you a free PS5 update if you own it, and the same is true with the Xbox One version moving to the Xbox Series, as for Windows devices, it will come through an update that comes to everyone (for example via Steam), which we hope that our gaming computers able to afford to run it.

Fallout 4 has sold over 13.5 million copies, so there are definitely plenty of players who will get the free update next year. With Fallout 5 late and not coming any time soon, this update will serve as a good excuse to return to Fallout 4 with its new look, reminding us why we really love Fallout games.
