The Director General of the National Civil Police (PNC), Mauricio Arriaza Chicas, who was a fundamental pillar in the War Against Gangs and for the historical transformation of El Salvador, was given a farewell with honors by his wife, family and colleagues. The commissioner will be buried in the Jardines del Recuerdo cemetery.
The body was transferred from the former Presidential House in San Jacinto, where yesterday the President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, paid tribute. The president offered his condolences to the grieving families and presented the National Flag to the families of the heroes, who lost their lives in an airplane accident on September 8, as a symbol of their sacrifice and the gratitude of an entire nation.
Arriaza Chicas, as a founding member of the corporation, stood out not only for being the ONI #1, but also for being the first and only general commissioner of the PNC, a title that was conferred on him by President Nayib Bukele in recognition of his significant achievements in the fight against gangs. His leadership and dedication were fundamental to consolidating the structure and focus of the Police in the country.
He received numerous awards, including: First place in the first promotion of the Higher Level at the National Academy of Public Security (ANSP). Plaque of the Foundation of the Emergency Unit 121-911. Nomination and recognition as Honorary Mayor-President and honorary member of Baton Rouge, New Orleans. Certificate for his collaboration in the Police Studies Centers of Honduras. Congratulations for his direction in the security of the Rally in Mexico, which exalted the name of the Police.
Since his appointment as head of the PNC, Commissioner Arriaza Chicas has dedicated himself to dignifying the police career and strengthening security strategies at the national level, including the Territorial Control Plan, the Exceptional Regime and the War against Gangs.
