Kottayam: An assault on a family court official in Poonjar. The attack took place when he arrived to hand over a court order in a divorce case. The officer was attacked by the party’s father and brother. The incident took place around 3 pm on Thursday. Video footage of it was released.
A woman from Punjar and a man from Talayolaparambu had approached the family court seeking divorce. Following this, the court yesterday ordered to show the father of the girl and her child. But the girl’s family was not ready to show the child. Following this, the court directed the officer to forward the order directly in this regard.
The woman was not at the scene when the officer arrived at the house. The woman’s father and brother then assaulted the officer while trying to post the order at home. The woman’s husband was also with the officer. He was also attacked.
Both were injured in the attack, which included stoning. Based on the complaint lodged by them, the police started an investigation. Both the accused are absconding. According to the police, the woman had gone to Germany with her child. The young woman and young man had previously been in Germany. She filed for divorce after returning home.
