The popular adult animated comedy show “Family Guy” didn’t hold back in its latest episode when it took a few shots at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Airing on Sunday evening, the episode featured cartoon versions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

In the scene, the show’s protagonist, Peter Griffin, compares himself to the royal couple while sitting at a bar with his friends. Feeling uncertain about getting back the money he is owed, Griffin decides to follow the example of Harry and Meghan, who made headlines when they announced their decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the British monarchy in late 2022.

“I’ll go it alone, just like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry,” proclaims Griffin.

The scene then cuts to the animated versions of Harry and Meghan, who are approached by a Butler attempting to hand Harry a stack of envelopes. The Butler remarks, “Sir, your millions from Netflix for no one knows what.”

In a humorous twist, Meghan’s phone alert goes off, signaling it’s time for their daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco. The clip ends with Harry hinting at some regret over leaving his privileged life in Britain, saying, “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense.”

This clever jab from “Family Guy,” created by Seth MacFarlane in 1999, specifically references the couple’s failed $20 million Spotify deal. It echoes earlier criticisms made by Spotify CEO Bill Simmons, who referred to Meghan and Harry as “f–king grifters.”

This isn’t the first time the royal couple has been targeted by an animated series. In February 2023, Comedy Central’s long-running hit show “South Park” also parodied Harry and Meghan in an episode called “The Worldwide Privacy Tour.”

Amidst the controversy surrounding the Sussexes, the cameo appearance in “Family Guy” mirrors the challenges faced by their Archewell media company. While the couple signed a multi-million dollar deal with Netflix in 2020 to create content, a source close to the situation revealed that not enough content was produced to receive the full payout.

“Family Guy” airs on Sundays at 9:30 p.m. ET, providing viewers with another round of comedic commentary on current events and celebrity culture.
