/ On Wednesday, the Iraqi national football team was hit by a new problem that seemed to be of a “strange” type, and for the first time in the history of the team, before the match against Japan in the second round of the Asian Championship next Friday.

A source in the Football Association told Agency that a meeting was held today between the head of the association, Adnan Darjal, and the family of the player Muntadhar Majid, indicating that the family requested that their son be included as a starter in the match between the Iraqi national team and its Japanese counterpart, otherwise the player will not complete the tournament with the national team and will leave the delegation present in Qatar.

According to the source, this condition created pressure on the federation, which led to its rejection and complete disapproval, as what they were requesting was purely technical and had nothing to do with the federation, in addition to the coach Jesus Casas’ disapproval of such a condition.

According to the source, the management of the national team delegation informed that the Iraqi national team has a history and status and that its team has not been subjected to pressures of this strange kind, and that the mission is national and not temperamental.

Yesterday, Tuesday, the Iraqi national team player, Danilo Al-Saeed, left the national team mission in Qatar to participate in the Asian Championship. This came in protest of his non-participation in the match against Indonesia, which took place the day before yesterday and ended with Iraq winning 3-1.

On the other hand, it was decided that Saudi referee Mohammed Al-Huwaish will lead the match between the Iraqi national team and Japan next Friday in the second round of the tournament.
