Kabul: The United Nations has handed over financial aid for refugees to 1,000 families in Afghanistan’s Herat province. The aid was delivered through the UN High Commission in Afghanistan. 50,000 afghani was given to each family.

Abdul Ghafoor Jalal, head of refugee resettlement department in Herat, said that 47,700 families had been given financial assistance and it was the duty of the country’s citizens to provide assistance. The number of poor people is increasing day by day because they have no income and people are struggling. A resident of the area who received the financial aid told the local media that the assistance provided by the United Nations is a great relief in such a situation.

The UN General Secretary Antonio Guterres came out the other day with strong criticism against the violence against women in Afghanistan. He criticized the Taliban regime for trampling on the basic rights of Afghan women and girls and that it was very deplorable that they had to live as refugees in their own country.
