Chennai: Auroordas, a famous film narrator of Tamil film industry, passed away. He was 91. He passed away today (November 20) at 6.40 pm at his residence in Chennai – The Nagar. Last June, the Tamil Nadu government honored him with the artist’s memorial art department award.

He worked as a narrator from 1955 to 2014. He has written dialogues for films starring Sivaji Ganesan, MGR, Gemini Ganesan, Ravichandran, Jaishankar, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Vadivelu.

Born in Tiruvarur district, Auroordas played a prominent role in the dialogues of around 1000 films. He took the name Aururdas by combining the name of his hometown Tiruvarur and the latter part of his name in Esudas. Nediyapurine’s experience in the Tamil film industry for over 60 years is an achievement.

His body will be kept at his residence tomorrow (November 21, Monday) till 12 noon for last rites. The funeral rites will be held later.
