The district collector has said that 2,000 policemen will be on security duty as the world-famous Thiruvarur Thiyagaraja Temple will be demolished tomorrow.
Thiruvarur Thiagarajar Temple:
Thiruvarur Thiagarajar Temple is one of the oldest vegan temples. This is the place where the song was sung by Thirugnanasambandar, Uppar, Sundarar and Manikkavasagar. The Thiruvarur Thiyagaraja Temple is famous for its submergence with various specialties like this. The festival attracts a large number of devotees from various parts of the country, including locals and foreigners.
Destroyed:
The chariot in this temple is called the Azhither, and is proud to be the largest chariot in Asia. The chariot is 30 feet high and 30 feet wide when left unmanaged. The area adorned with statues up to the aerial part of the chariot is 48 feet and the air chariot is 12 feet with a total height of 96 feet.
Decorated Chariot:
The total weight of this huge chariot is 300 tons. The weight of the timber alone is 220 tons. The chariot weighs 5 tons, 50 tons of bamboo, 10 tons of whip, 1 ton of rope, 4 tons of cloth, 4 horses tied to the front of the chariot, and toys including yali and Brahma.
Also 4 ropes 425 feet long are fitted to pull this toad. It weighs 4 tons. The festival is celebrated in Thiruvarur as devotees from different districts gather to witness the beauty of the streets of Thiruvarur. That is why the festival is in full swing all over Thiruvarur.
Extinction:
This special extermination takes place tomorrow. Earlier tomorrow at 5 am Ganesha, Subramanian chariot rope will be pulled. Following this, at 8.10 am, the world famous Azhither rope is caught and the Therota festival begins. Arrangements for the ceremony are being made jointly by the district administration, the temple administration and other departments of the government.
2000 Police Security:
Amma District Collector Gayatri said that 2000 policemen will be deployed for security ahead of the Thiruvarur Thiyagaraja Temple floods. He added that security arrangements such as a medical team and a fire truck have been made for the festival.
