There is a famous jewelery store at Usman Road, T. Nagar, Chennai. For the past 20 years, jeweler Prabir Shaikh, 38, of 3rd Cross Street, Nandanam, worked on contract basis.
Sathyanarayanan, 48, a jewelery shop manager, lodged a complaint at the Mambalam police station in June last year that he tampered with a gold bar weighing 2 kg 46 gm 100 ml in the gold given to him for making jewellery.
Earlier, in March last year, a complaint was filed against Prabir Sheikh on behalf of the same gold jewelery shop, that he had pawned 347 grams of gold jewelery given by customers for repair.
In this connection, Prabir Sheikh and his friend Balamurugan of Vyasarpadi, who helped in the pawning, were arrested. It is noteworthy that the bail came out after that.
In this situation, Prabir Sheikh was arrested on the complaint of handling 2.46 kg gold bars.
