The Ministry of Labor, through its Inspection, Surveillance and Control Directorate, has taken the decision to order the immediate suspension of the activities of the well-known establishment “Andrés Carne de Res”, following a serious work accident that occurred on August 17, in which Worker Laura Daniela Villamil was seriously injured with burns over much of her body.
The inspection, which lasted 20 hours, revealed significant shortcomings in health and safety conditions at work.which led the Minister of Labor, Gloria Inés Ramírez, to issue Order No. 1476 of 2024, decreeing the preventive measure of stoppage. “This measure will remain in force until the ARL SURA verifies and certifies compliance with the established corrective measures,” explained the minister. She also emphasized that the measure guarantees the continuity of the workers’ employment relationship, as well as the payment of their salaries and social benefits during the temporary closure.

In a gesture of solidarity, Minister Ramírez visited the family of Laura Daniela Villamil on September 3to offer their support in this difficult time. The young woman, recognized for her talent as a dancer and teacher of performing arts, was carrying out artistic work in the company of other workers when the accident occurred.
The minister highlighted the importance of this case to reflect on the need to guarantee Decent and safe working conditions for all workers in the country“We invite all companies to work together with the ARLs to strengthen safety and health measures at work,” he said.
“We will continue to work tirelessly to strengthen companies in terms of safety and to ensure that workers can carry out their work in a safe, healthy environment with job guarantees,” the minister concluded.
