Africa Endeavor is the annual symposium for U.S. Africa Command leaders focusing on communications and opportunities to improve training and development of military communications capabilities, as well as interoperability for multinational operations.

The organization of this event is part of the close cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States and comes in execution of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, indicated, on this occasion, Lieutenant Colonel Adil Allali, Head of the Information and Communication Systems Protection Division of the Transmissions Inspectorate of the General Staff of the FAR.

This symposium is part of the exceptional dynamics of the fruitful cooperation between Morocco and the United States, aimed at developing the interoperability of the information and communication systems of the armed forces of African countries, in addition to strengthening their cyber security, he said in a statement to M24, the continuous news channel of MAP.

In this context and in strict compliance with preventive measures against the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, Moroccan and foreign experts and specialists gave presentations to discuss the different facets of interoperability and cyber security of military information and communication systems, with a view to exchanging experiences and expertise, noted Lieutenant Colonel Allali.

For his part, Colonel Jesse Phillips, Director of Command, Control, Communication and Information Systems of AFRICOM, stressed that the objective of this “exceptional” event is to “support our partners in improving their defense capabilities.”

He also noted that strengthening the interoperability of systems is “critical” to the success of military partnerships across Africa and to maintaining security and stability in the region.

According to an AFRICOM statement, sharing examples of tactics, training, processes and standardization, between and within the U.S. military and partners across Africa, also improves the capabilities of organizations such as the African Union-led African Standby Force (ASF), an international, continental, multidisciplinary peacekeeping force comprised of military, police and civilian contingents, to participate in humanitarian, assistance and relief missions.

The symposium, held via videoconference, was attended by military officials from around twenty African countries, in addition to representatives of African and international organisations.
