Colleagues, friends, and relatives bid farewell to their beloved colleague in an atmosphere of deep sorrow at the Zografou Cemetery. Among them are the two great women in his life, his first wife, Mirka Papakonstantinou, as well as his last partner, Eliza Palla.
In the photos from the ceremony secured by Petros Chontos, we see Mirka Papakonstantinou being supported as she follows the procession with her former husband’s coffin, while next to her stands the actor’s last partner, Eliza Palla, visibly moved.
Also present for the final goodbye to Danis Katrinidis were Eleni Rantou, Stamatis Fasoulis, Vladimiros Kyriakidis, Efi Mouriki, Angela Gerekou, Dimitris Piatas, Spyros Mpimpilas, Kostas Prekas, and many other actors and theatre people. The family’s wish is that, instead of wreaths, contributions be made to the TASEH – Mutual Aid Fund of the Association of Greek Actors and the Actor’s House.
“We were together in school with Mirka, it became a crazy and passionate love, it continued outside of school, I went to the army, and in our eagerness, when I returned, we got married quite young. We have remained very fond of each other; she is one of the most important people in my life. I love and respect her, as she does me,” Danis Katrinidis had stated about Mirka Papakonstantinou in the magazine Down Town.
