Relatives and friends said their last “goodbye” to Prince Michael, or “Michel de Grèce,” as he was widely known, on Thursday afternoon.

A large crowd, including many royals, attended the funeral held at the Church of Saints Theodoros in the First Cemetery of Athens at 12:00.
His wife, Marina Karella, wanted to bid him farewell dressed in white.

By her side was Pavlos, son of the former King Constantine, with his wife Marie Chantal, along with Nikolaos, Philippos, Alexia, Theodora, their mother Anna Maria, and Queen Sofia of Spain.

Who was Prince Michael
Michel de Grèce (also known as Michel de Grèce or Prince Michael of Greece) was a Greek literary figure, author of biographical novels and novels in the French language.
He was a member of the former Greek Royal Family and the broader Danish royal family. He was the only member of the former Greek Royal House with Greek nationality, registered in the municipal registry of the Municipality of Athens as Michel de Grèce.

He was the only child of Prince Christopher of Greece and Denmark and Princess Françoise of Orléans, sister of Henri, Count of Paris. His father passed away when Michel was only one year old.
He was the last surviving grandchild of George I of Greece, of Bourbon descent through his mother’s family, and the last great-grandchild of Christian IX of Denmark.
