On April 3, the regular session of the organization’s Intergovernmental Committee on Physical Education and Sports (CIGEPS) began its work at UNESCO headquarters.
As reported by Idman.biz, during the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Farid Gaibov acted as chairman of the committee for 2022-2023, congratulated the Minister of Sports of Chile Jaime Pizarro on his election to this position and reported on the activities of the Committee over the past four years.
Noting that Azerbaijan made a special contribution to the UNESCO sports agenda, Gaibov spoke about the success of the VII MINEPS conference, held in Baku on June 26-29 last year with the participation of representatives of 110 countries. He also spoke about the projects being implemented in Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Fit for life” initiative.
Deputy Director General for Social and Humanitarian Affairs Gabriela Ramos, the new chairman of the committee, the Minister of Sports of Chile Jaime Pizarro and a number of other member countries who took part in the meeting thanked Azerbaijan for the successful chairmanship and high organization of the MINEPS VII conference.
As part of his visit to Paris, Minister Farid Gaibov also met with UNESCO Deputy Director General for Social and Human Sciences Gabriela Ramos. The ambassador of our country to UNESCO Elman Abdullayev also took part in the meeting.
