“September, when spring meets autumn, was rich in achievements and innovations both in the field of youth and in the field of sports.”
As Idman.biz reports, Minister of Youth and Sports Farid Gaibov said this when assessing September.
In his traditional “Minister’s View” column, he said he was particularly proud of last month’s infrastructure development:
“As you know, among the projects implemented by our government to ensure the “Great Return” to the lands liberated from occupation, public health remains a priority. The head of our state, Ilham Aliyev, laid the foundation of the Imarat stadium in the city of Agdam. The opening of the stadium will create favorable conditions for the development of sports in the region, as well as for hosting local and international competitions. Our Paralympians, who successfully continued the victorious path of our Olympians in Paris, returned from the capital of France with good results. Our 18 athletes in 7 sports won 11 medals, of which 4 were gold, and took 28th place among 168 countries and 13th place among European countries. In my opinion, the successes achieved by our Paralympic athletes will give a great impetus to the process of involving people with disabilities in sports.”
The minister noted that our acrobat gymnasts were among those who won a historic victory this time: “At the World Championships held in Portugal, our acrobats won 4 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals and took 3rd place in the medal list competition. Our mixed pair won gold medals for the first time in the history of acrobatic gymnastics, and the team won a silver medal in the team competition. The bronze medal of our men’s group in tempo exercises was also one of the first in history. Another achievement was the silver medal of our mixed pair at the championship. world aerobics competition, held in Italy, I congratulate our athletes on their success.”
Gaibov recalled that in September our country hosted a number of prestigious international competitions: “The Formula 1 Grand Prix in Azerbaijan has been organized at a high level for the eighth time. The number of Formula 1 fans is increasing every year. This year, the sale of all tickets for The Baku stage became a new Formula 1 record.
An international handball tournament dedicated to the memory of national leader Heydar Aliyev, an international tournament “Sea Breeze Cup IV” in padel tennis, “SFA Federation Cup 2024” in sailing, a Vugar Gashimov Memorial chess tournament in Shusha and other competitions were held. Developing a healthy lifestyle and modernizing our country is beneficial for the development of sports. The city of Guba, our “Sports Capital”, is also remembered for the first international tournament “Star Cup” among football players under 12 years old. The first fruit of the work done was that the students of the Ulduz Football Academy won a silver medal in a competition in which 8 teams from 5 countries competed. I believe that holding such competitions will contribute to the development of children’s football in our country and will play an important role in instilling a love and interest in sports in children. The Ministry of Youth and Sports successfully continues the “Healthy Lifestyle” project. Involving everyone in sports is one of our main goals. The “Healthy Lifestyle” device was recently put into operation. A mobile car will create conditions for sports in the regions, as well as in places where there are no sports facilities. In September, we continued the tournaments that we held among government agencies in various areas. “Holding such competitions is useful in terms of increasing the popularity of sports among people and promoting a healthy lifestyle.”
Gaibov said that at his meetings with the President of the European Weightlifting Federation Antonio Conflitti, the President of the European Paralympic Committee Raymond Blondeli and the Executive President of the European Table Tennis Union Pedro Miguel Muran, they discussed the work done towards the development of the sport and the possibility of mutual cooperation.
“During my visit to Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, I had the opportunity to watch some of the competitions of the V World Nomad Games. I had bilateral meetings with my colleagues from several countries. I also spoke at the eighth meeting of the Ministers of Youth and Sports of the Organization of Turkish States (TDT). I believe that holding such events is very important from the point of view of further strengthening cooperation with Turkish states in the field of youth and sports. As Vice-President of the Bureau of the IX Session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport (COP9) of UNESCO, I attended the joint meeting of the COP9 Bureau and the Approval Committee held in New Delhi. , India. At a meeting with the Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports of India Mansukh Mandaviya, Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse, we discussed the current relations and future prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of youth and sports. I participated in the international conference “Creating an inclusive landscape in the fight against doping”, as well as in the second official meeting of the bureau of the IX session of the Conference of the Parties to the International Convention against Doping in Sport.”
According to the minister, the traditional meetings held every month continued this month: “At the meeting with our athletes who successfully represented our country at prestigious international competitions, and their coaches, we talked with our athletes about their victories and the process of preparing for the competition We also had a separate meeting with our Paralympic athletes who achieved success in Paris. We also met with members of the Birbash Baku team, winners of the European Futsal Champions League. Once again, I congratulate all the athletes who successfully represented our country at international competitions. Although successes are growing every day, this does not give us confidence. On the contrary, it encourages us to look more responsibly at tomorrow. The implemented reforms should not only become the basis of our successes, but also pave the way for future prospects. Therefore, our strategy must become our main one. a roadmap to achieve new goals.”
