“We want to go to Paris 2024 with as many fighters as possible.”
As reported by İdman.biz, this was stated by member of the executive committee of the Azerbaijan Wrestling Federation Farid Mansurov, assessing the World Olympic Qualification Tournament, which will be held in Istanbul (Turkey) on May 9-13.
He said that he believes that our wrestlers will win tickets to the Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024 at licensed competitions:
“Our freestyle wrestlers will not participate in the tournament in Istanbul, since they have received licenses in each of the Olympic weight categories. But women do not have licenses yet. Our goal is to go to the Olympic Games with as many wrestlers as possible.”
The Olympic champion, who also watched the international President’s Cup tournament that started in Sugovushan, emphasized that holding such competitions will also have a great impact on young people:
“21 countries compete in the regatta, which starts in Sugovushan. It’s a pride to be here as a fan. Athletes from different countries see how beautiful Sugovushan and Mingachevir are.
Please note that the President’s Cup will end on May 3.
