Consumers are increasingly prioritizing health and wellness when making food choices, and the baking industry is taking notice. A grain processing company today announced a new Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy designed to improve the nutritional value and reduce the environmental impact of bakery products. The approach centers on natural processes, “clean label” formulations, and support for regenerative agriculture.
Consumer Demand Drives Change
According to reports from NielsenIQ published in September and December 2025, health and wellness are now the most influential factors in food consumption decisions, second only to price. This trend is projected to intensify in 2026, with 43% of consumers indicating a willingness to spend more on healthier choices. ESG criteria and sustainability are no longer optional; today’s shoppers expect tangible benefits that align with their values and simplify their lives.
“The development of this ESG strategy was an opportunity to reflect on our business practices in order to establish ourselves as a player invested in the improvement and promotion of healthy bakery products and premixes for consumers and which promotes soil regeneration,” says Elisabeth Brasseur, Vice-President, Sales & Innovation. “By structuring our approach, it gives us a clear framework to act, with objectives, indicators and timelines, and to mobilize our teams and partners around growth that respects nature, health and communities.”
