In this case, fertilizers including diammonium phosphate cost Rs. Farmers say that the price has gone up to Rs 2,400 while it was sold at Rs 600 to Rs 800.

Farmers are worried about the increase in the price of fertilizers while they are spending more on ploughing, sowing rice and wages. In many parts of Tamil Nadu, agriculture is affected due to scarcity of fertilizers, increase in fertilizer prices, and lack of labor force. We depend only on agriculture in this area. I have cultivated 51 varieties of paddy. The cost of seed paddy, ploughing, fertilizer, labor etc. per acre is more than Rs.25 thousand.

But now, the price of fertilizers has reached the peak due to many reasons including the suspension of subsidies. Due to this farmers are afraid to do farming. Government should take steps to control fertilizer prices.
