He National Agricultural Council (CNA) and the National Chamber of the Fishing and Aquaculture Industry (Canapesca) regretted the Death of Minerva Perez Castropresident of the fishing authority in Baja California.
In a joint statement, both institutions said that in light of the tragic event, they strongly condemn the act and repudiate the violence that affects “not only our sector, but Mexico as a whole.”

Secondly, they demanded that the relevant authorities promptly clarify the events and call for justice to be done.
“We urge the government to take immediate and effective measures to stop the wave of violence that afflicts those engaged in fishing and aquaculture in our country.”
And finally, they called for unity in the agricultural and fishing sector to confront this situation of insecurity that undermines our productive activities.
“The CNA and CANAINPESCA extend their deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Ms. Pérez Castro. Her loss leaves a significant void in our community.”
This follows the execution of Minerva Pérez Castro yesterday in Baja California, who hours earlier had issued threats and raised her voice against illegal fishing.

In this regard, Julio Berdegue, who was named as the next Secretary of Agriculture when Claudia Sheinbaum’s administration begins, condemned the attack through his X account.
He said that the murder of Minerva Pérez was a vile act and expressed his condolences to her family and the Confederation. We must eradicate illegal fishing in Mexico.
Pérez Castro had previously pointed out that the product of illegal fishing also reaches the market with the same production costs as established companies, which affects competition and the sector.
