Chandigarh: Punjab-Haryana High Court has ordered to open Shambhu border within a week. The High Court has given orders to the Haryana government. Vasu Ranjan Shandilya, a lawyer of Punjab-Haryana High Court, had filed a petition in the High Court to open Shambhu border. It was told in the petition that National Highway 44 has been closed for five months due to the agitation. Due to this, Ambala shopkeepers, traders, small and big street vendors have come to the brink of starvation. It has been demanded in the petition that orders should be given to open Shambhu border with immediate effect. Hearing was held on this petition today. After which the High Court has given these orders.

Vasu Ranjan had said in his petition that patients around Ambala and Shambhu are facing problems due to the border being closed. Ambulances are facing a lot of difficulties. Lawyers from Haryana-Punjab are also facing a lot of problems in coming from Ambala to Patiala and those from Patiala are facing problems in coming to the courts of Ambala. Closing the road is a violation of the fundamental rights of the people. Due to the closure of the road, small and big work of Ambala and Patiala district has stopped. This highway connects Punjab, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir. Due to its closure, not only the governments are facing losses, but the common man is also troubled.

The petitioner had made these allegationsVasu Ranjan told the High Court that the National Highway has been closed illegally since February 2024 in violation of the Constitution and farmers have built temporary houses around the Shambhu border. He said that it seems as if the Shambhu border will never open now. It has been closed indefinitely. The High Court should order the Center and both the state governments to open the way. At the same time, the High Court has now issued an order to the Haryana government while giving its verdict on this petition.
