A new Electricity Act Amendment Bill with various amendments including additional powers to the Electricity Regulatory Commission was tabled in the Lok Sabha. In protest against this, a protest was held in front of the Villupuram Collector’s Office on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Farmers’ Association. District President Murugan presided. Union executives participated. During the protest, they burnt a copy of the new Electricity Act Amendment Bill filed by the central government and spoke against the central government.
