The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS), at the request of citizens, is checking the validity of the increase in prices for goods in the Technopark-Center retail chain. On March 10, Izvestia was informed about this by the press service of the FAS.

It is specified that the Federal Antimonopoly Service requested written explanations from the trading network about the reasons and conditions that contributed to the increase in prices for household appliances and electronics since February this year.

“In case of revealing signs of violation of the antimonopoly law, the service will immediately take response measures. The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia warns of the need for strict compliance with the requirements of antimonopoly legislation when carrying out trading activities,” the statement said.

The agency also draws attention to the need for responsible behavior of participants in the entire commodity-producing chain and the inadmissibility of unreasonable price increases, including in a situation of a possible increase in demand for goods.

On March 3, the Federal Antimonopoly Service sent warnings about the inadmissibility of unreasonable price increases to officials of the companies Granel, Lenstroytrest, Etazhi Development, Est-A-Tet, and the Mayak real estate agency. As noted in the service, statements about a possible increase in housing prices may cause an increase in demand, which can be used by market participants to increase sales and affect the end consumer. Also, statements about this as a guideline in the work can be accepted by other market participants.

Prices for goods are rising against the backdrop of the fall of the ruble, including due to the sanctions of the West, which are introduced in response to Russia’s conduct of a special operation to protect the Donbass. Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of this operation on February 24.

A few days earlier, the situation in the region had escalated due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DPR and LPR) announced the evacuation of residents to Russian territory, and also turned to Moscow for help. On February 21, the Russian leader signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DNR and LNR.
