FAS-BCIE finances 125 student scholarships in El Salvador

The CABEI Social Support Foundation (FAS) will allocate more than half a million dollars over the next five years for low-income students interested in a vocational technician.

San Salvador. The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), through its Social Support Foundation (FAS), will support the Bicentennial Scholarship Program to improve access to education for students from the eighth grade of Basic Education, until they complete their high school studies. The signatories, Dante Mossi and Alejandro Zelaya, for CABEI and the government, respectively, highlighted that the scholarships promote education and encourage excellent academic performance in different educational and work fields.

The program will benefit 25 students a year, for a period of 5 years, for a total of 125 students benefited. The selected students will receive financial support that will allow them to have access to transportation, food, connectivity, educational materials (photocopies, literary works, printing, among others), tools and materials specific to the specialty of the technical baccalaureate they are studying.

Since 2020, CABEI created the FAS to promote projects with high social impact in its member countries. This initiative responds to the actions of the multilateral in support of poverty reduction and improving the quality of life of citizens in the region, contemplated in CABEI’s 2020-2024 Institutional Strategy, specifically in the Strategic Axis of Human Development and Inclusion .
