Fastest Pakistani player to reach 10,000 runs; Babar Assam with a breakthrough

Colombo: Pakistan captain Babar Azam has crossed the barrier of 10,000 runs in international cricket. Babar Azam is the 11th Pakistani player to reach this feat. Babar’s feat came midway through the first Test of the series against Sri Lanka.

Here, Babar became the fastest player to reach 10000 runs among Pakistani players. Javed Miandad, who stands second, needed 248 matches to reach 10000 runs in international cricket. Babar Azam is currently ranked fourth in the Test rankings. Babar is ranked first in ODIs and Twenty20s.

Babar scored 2851 runs from 40 Tests for Pakistan. Babar Azam scored 4442 runs from 89 ODIs and 2686 runs from 74 T20Is. Pakistan is facing a major batting collapse in the first Test of the series against Sri Lanka.

When Pakistan reached 150 runs in the first innings, they lost 9 wickets. Babar remains at the crease with 61 runs despite the loss of 9 wickets. Apart from Babar, no other Pakistani player has been able to raise the score above 20. Sri Lanka’s first innings ended at 222.
