Fatal Pedestrian Accident on DuSable Lake Shore Drive Near Chicago Avenue

Chicago, IL – In a tragic incident, a pedestrian attempting to cross DuSable Lake Shore Drive was fatally struck overnight near Chicago Avenue, according to Chicago police. The accident occurred around 5:25 a.m. when two men were trying to cross all the lanes near the 800 block of North Lake Shore Drive.

One of the pedestrians was hit by a BMW X-3 traveling southbound, resulting in severe injuries. Emergency services rushed to the scene and transported the victim to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The second pedestrian miraculously escaped the incident unharmed.

The driver of the BMW, identified as a 63-year-old man, also suffered panic symptoms following the collision. He was immediately taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.

In response to the accident, the southbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive were closed at Chestnut Street, causing significant traffic disruptions. The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accident Unit was deployed to investigate the incident and gather evidence.
