In a tragic incident today (Saturday), a shooting attack in Hawara has claimed the lives of two Israelis. The victims, a father and his son aged 60 and 29 respectively, were shot at close range by a lone terrorist who later fled the scene. Despite immediate medical assistance provided by MDA medics and paramedics, both victims succumbed to their injuries.
The Defense Minister, Yoav Galant, has called for a situation assessment with senior members of the defense establishment in response to the attack. The incident took place at a car wash, where the terrorist approached on foot and targeted the victims. In cooperation with the army’s medical force, we gave them medical treatment on the spot and performed advanced resuscitation operations.”
In response to the attack, Hamas spokesman, Abdel-Latif Al-Kanua, praised the operation as a result of the resistance’s continuous efforts to protect their people and respond to the “crimes of the occupation.” He stated, “The Palestinian resistance and its revolutionary heroes destroyed the prestige of an army The occupation and its settlers.”
The Islamic Jihad movement also expressed support for the attack, deeming it a “natural and legitimate response to the crimes of the occupation against our people.”
The incident has once again highlighted tensions in the region and serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenge Israeli authorities face in maintaining security. The Defense Minister’s situation assessment will hopefully lead to increased measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
