Title: Gunman Suspected of Killing Four People in Georgia Subdivision Shot Dead in Confrontation with Law Enforcement

Date: July 16, 2023

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Saturday morning, a 41-year-old man identified as Andre L. Longmore allegedly gunned down four individuals at a residential subdivision in Georgia. The suspect was subsequently killed during a confrontation that left two law enforcement officers injured, according to authorities.

Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandreff revealed that Longmore, who was considered armed and dangerous, was the target of an extensive manhunt in southwest Georgia before being cornered and fatally shot by officers. The circumstances surrounding Longmore’s death have not been disclosed at this time. During the shootout, a Henry County sheriff’s deputy and a Clayton County police officer sustained injuries.

The tragic news of Longmore’s demise interrupted the Henry County Sheriff’s Office’s scheduled press briefing on the manhunt. The identities of the victims killed in the rampage have yet to be released, pending notification of their families. All the victims were adults, authorities confirmed.

The motive behind the shooting, which occurred around 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, remains under investigation. Longmore is suspected of committing the murders in several locations within close proximity at the Dogwood Lakes subdivision in Hampton, located approximately 40 miles south of Atlanta. Law enforcement has issued four murder warrants for Longmore’s arrest.

Witnesses described the harrowing moments during the shooting, with Frankie Worth, a resident of the subdivision, testifying to seeing Longmore shoot his neighbor. Worth shared that just as he was about to open the window, he heard a loud noise. When he looked out, he saw the gunman raising his arms before abruptly lowering them. It appeared that the neighbor was attempting to flee in a vehicle when he was fatally shot. Worth described the chilling scene, stating that once the shooter realized the shot was successful, he inspected his weapon, placed it back in his holster, glanced around, and fled on foot.

Another resident, who wished to remain anonymous, claimed that the suspect ran down a road targeting seemingly random individuals and firing shots at them. Law enforcement agencies from across the area, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and various Atlanta police and public safety agencies, collaborated in the search for Longmore.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has offered a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to Longmore’s arrest and prosecution.

As investigations continue into this shocking incident, the community mourns the loss of the victims and hopes for the swift recovery of the injured officers.
