Fatal shooting in Paris: “I just had time to kneel down”, says a bar client

Bursts of gunfire and screams. Julien (the first name has been changed) just had time to kneel down and “push my girlfriend to the ground”. “I didn’t think of anything else”, breathes this 29-year-old young man, still in shock this Tuesday morning. A few hours earlier, around 9:30 p.m., he witnessed a fatal shooting, in a shisha bar located at the corner of Popincourt and Bréguet streets, in Paris (XIe). A 38-year-old man died at the scene. Four other customers were injured. Among them, Julien’s 25-year-old girlfriend.
