A man and his daughter were arrested red-handed early this Sunday (16) in Irajá, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, after assaulting a doctor who was taking care of a patient in serious condition in the red room of the unit, who died.
According to the police, André Luiz do Nascimento Soares arrived at the Francisco da Silva Telles Municipal Hospital
accompanied by daughter Samara Kiffini do Nascimento Soares. Francisco had an injury, but the unit’s employees asked him to wait for care, as there were patients with more serious cases.
Impatient, the two began to break into the hospital and attacked the doctor on duty, and invaded the red room of the unit, a place for patients in serious condition.
According to witnesses, André kept his hands behind his back, implying that he was supposedly armed.
With the confusion, a patient with an acute myocardial infarction left the treatment room with the serum column and sought refuge in the bathroom. A patient in serious condition, who was being monitored by the medical team, was left unattended during the confusion and died.
Father and daughter, who caused the riot, are arrested for intentional homicide with eventual intention, and will also be liable for damage to public property and contempt. André also responds for bodily injury.
Responsible for the defense of father and daughter, lawyer Cláudio Rodrigues claims that there was widespread confusion in the health unit, and that it is not known how the fight started and claims that there is poor service in the unit.
“Initially, the defense understands, with the utmost respect, that accusing the defendants of the murder of a patient who was already hospitalized in that unit, possibly with a bad clinical condition, is too forceful. Those defendants who were also in that unit desperate for care” , said the lawyer.
