Tragedy at Salda Lake: Father and Son Drown
A family outing turned to heartbreak as a father and son lost their lives in Turkey’s Salda Lake.

A family swim at the popular Touristic Salda Lake in Yeşilova district of Burdur ended in tragedy today, 2025-06-15. **The father, Hüseyin Ayvalık, and his son Berat Kaan Ayvalık, were found dead, 20 meters from the beach after they disappeared in the lake’s wavy water.**
Hüseyin Ayvalık, 40, entered the lake with his children Berat Kaan, 12, and Begüm Su Ayvalık, 17. After a while, the father and his children started to struggle. Harun Yarıkan, a veterinarian from the Bucak District Directorate of Agriculture, witnessed the distress and bravely entered the lake to rescue Begüm Su Ayvalık.
Health, police, gendarmerie, and AFAD teams quickly responded to the scene. Unfortunately, the father and son’s lifeless bodies were later recovered by AFAD teams and divers.
The bodies of Hüseyin Ayvalık and Berat Kaan Ayvalık were transported to the morgue of Yeşilova State Hospital. Relatives were overcome with grief.
