Father Speaks Out on His Daughter’s Psychological Struggles Following Violent Attack in Glyfada

Regarding the condition of his underage daughter after the brutal beating she suffered in Glyfada, the father of the 14-year-old spoke, noting that her psychology is burdened.

According to the father of the 14-year-old, the minor has not gone to school since the incident in Glyfada; however, she has expressed her desire to return. Still, according to him, he does not know if she is able to do so. “She talks daily with psychologists and a child psychiatrist. She is not well; her psychology is burdened. This affects the whole family. We are quite distressed and tired since Saturday night; the balance and functioning of the house have been disturbed. We are unsettled, sad, and almost sleepless,” he mentioned in an interview with Action24.

He then noted that “there is fear that grips her regarding contact and interaction with her peers,” relating to the possibility of her returning to school. “This is something we have to manage, but it is still very fresh. This trauma is something that causes us anxiety and sorrow,” he added.

“We had this image, even though the regime of bullying could exist with the saying, ‘We don’t talk; we solve our issues among ourselves.’ Our child had confided in us about situations she was experiencing, which is why in May 2024, we reported to her school behaviors of severe bullying, verbal, psychological violence, and the unbearable pressure she faced both inside and outside of school.

“It was the same individuals, the same perpetrators whom we reported. The school administration acted appropriately, and we thank them because one of the two left the school. I also want to publicly thank the Ministry of Education because they, along with the school, have been there from the very first moment,” he added regarding the circumstances that led to the beating.

“The schools were closed; the children stopped their daily interactions. As soon as we returned, with terrible anger and rage stemming from this report, they made an initial call in a closed Instagram group, found her, and attacked her in a manner similar to the attack on September 21, but again in a milder context. They spat on her, cursed at her, threw drinks at her, telling her, ‘You are lucky we don’t burn you.’

“’We have a lighter, and we will burn you alive.’ They ripped her shirt and bra. At that point, we decided to handle it with understanding. They got angry because we reported the bullying that our child was experiencing. The behavior of these children is vengeful,” he concluded.
