Father’s Day triggers water use in Saltillo; consumption increases up to 37% in Saltillo

The municipality of saltillo It has registered record figures by reaching temperatures of up to 40 degrees Celsius due to the heat wave that the country is going through, which has impacted on water consumption.

According to information from Aguas de Saltillo, last summer the average consumption was 120 liters per day per inhabitant. Now the use of water is 154 liters and on Father’s Day it shot up to 165 liters per person.

This was described as “exceptional consumption” by the general manager of Aguas de Saltillo, Jordi Bosch. Likewise, he indicated that the water supply in the city is not at risk: “We are making investments and joint actions with the administration council and the municipality of Saltillo,” he said.

“We are working so that there is no breaking point like there hasn’t been in 23 years”, declared Jordi Bosch.

Saltillo was characterized by having an ideal climate, but in recent years the situation has changed. Proof of this is the water consumption registered during Father’s Day, which even exceeds what was consumed by the inhabitants of Monterrey in the water crisis they experienced last year. They made an average consumption of 156 liters.

That day, in general, “we had an increase of up to 194,000 cubic meters injected into the network,” said Bosch, explaining that the amount of water injected on hot days is 180,000 cubic meters.

The figure provided by Aguas de Saltillo also reveals that the people of Saltillo consumed 56 percent more than what is recommended by the Health Organization to satisfy consumption and hygiene needs.

RESPONSIBLE USE OF WATER

To raise awareness among the population, Agsal started campaigns aimed at young people, middle-aged people and older adults.

“We have sectorized the campaigns to raise awareness among the population and have a moderate consumption of water”, said Jordi Bosch.
