Kottayam: Shawn George said that Kodiyeri Balakrishnan had his own father’s position. Shawn wrote on Facebook that because of his close friendship with Bineesh Kodiyeri, he also saw himself as a member of Kodiyeri’s household. ‘It was a time when Bineesh and I were very active in student politics. Naturally, we go to that house after all the strike-related problems, police cases and commotions that arise during that period.

Bineesh and I became close friends when I was studying for PDC in Mar Ivanius College, Thiruvananthapuram. Since then he considered me as a member of that family. The love, affection and care of a son was with me then and now. Bineesh and I were very active in student politics at that time. Naturally, we go to that house after all the strike-related problems, police cases and commotions that arise during that period. He goes praying that uncle will be at home. In my mind, that man always had the same position as his father.
He has always cared for me for the past two decades. He never talked politics with me because I was not qualified, old or mature enough to talk politics with him. I am meeting him to tell him that Bineesh and Ninu and I are starting an office together in Ernakulam. During our long talk we shared our great joy in returning to the active professional field, and also talked politics with me. He mentioned to me that along with the profession, you must continue active political work and you can do that. He showed me the care of a father there too.
I have never met anyone else who was so disciplined in his personal life. Uncle gets up at 4.30 sharp. Will exercise regularly. I have never seen a man who lived so orderly without any vices. Those patterns were evident in his personal life as well. A personality that faces with a smile no matter how many crisis topics we go to. Even when he was Home Minister and CPM State Secretary, I have never asked him for anything. But he was a huge influence on everything I did. I believe that the 2016-21 period has never seen the organization grow like this.
