Ansu Fati (19), injured in the thigh on January 20, returned to the lawns on May 1. This is the young Catalan winger’s first call-up with La Roja since October 2020. He was absent from the pitch between November 2020 and September 2021 due to a meniscus fracture.

Luis Enrique also called his teammate Sergio Busquets, left to rest during the last international window in March by the former Barça coach, as well as Thiago Alcantara, absent since Euro 2021, or Marco Asensio, the Real player Madrid never called up in 2021.

On the other hand, the coach of “Roja” cannot count on Pedri and Mikel Oyarzabal, both injured.

Spain, runners-up in the Nations League last October after losing 2-1 to France, are aiming to qualify again for the 4-man finals, which will take place in June 2023.
