Kozhikode: The All India Women’s Football Tournament in memory of Fauzia Mambata, who was a football player and coach, will be held in November at the EMS Stadium in Kozhikode, the organizers have announced. Eight teams playing in the I-League will participate.
Fauzia, who worked round the clock for women’s football, passed away on February 19, 2021. The tournament is organized by friends, female players and disciples to keep their memories alive. Tournament Chairperson T.R. Sicily, national coach P.V. Priya, Sports Council Football Coach Amrita Arvind and Tournament Treasurer Terry Maria Sosa attended the press conference.
