Dion Beljo is leaving FC Augsburg on loan and, as expected, is joining SK Rapid Wien. The Austrian Bundesliga club, where Robert Klauß has been on the sidelines since November 2023, confirmed the deal including an option to buy on Tuesday. According to transfer market information, this is clearly below the 7 million to 9 million euros that were rumored a while ago.
“We really wish we had Dion Beljo in our ranks; his profile perfectly complements our attacking options. He is still young, but at the same time experienced and has already completed a season and a half at the highest level in German-speaking countries. I have full confidence that he can be a goal scorer for us and, like our entire coaching staff, I look forward to working with him,” said managing director Markus Katzer.
Beljo came to Augsburg from NK Osijek in January 2023 for 3 million euros, but was unable to establish himself sustainably. In 45 appearances he scored five goals and added three goals. His market value recently dropped from 6.5 million to 4 million euros, and the contract with the Fuggerstadt team runs until 2027. FCA had already signed two center forwards, Samuel Essende (26) and Steve Mounié (29).
