He Barcelona Soccer Club has notified the court of first instance number 15 of its desire to “withdraw” from the procedure in which, together with Real Madrid y Athletic Clubtries that Justice declare illegal the agreement between LaLiga y CVC.

In the letter presented this Friday and to which EL PERIÓDICO DE ESPAÑA has had access, Barça expresses its desire not to continue participating in a dispute in which the rest of the First and Second Division clubs during the 2021-22 season appear as co-defendants.

The process began after, in December 2021, 38 of the 42 clubs that then made up LaLiga decided to accept an agreement sponsored by Javier Tebas to sell a percentage of its television rights to the CVC fund for the next 25 years, in exchange for around 2,000 million euros.

hand in hand

Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic, aligned against LaLiga from the beginning of the project, decided to go to court before an agreement that they considered illegal and that they refused to sign. A demand that Real Madrid has always led, since Florentino Perez it was from the first moment who rejected it with more determination.

Barça and Real Madrid have always gone hand in hand, although Joan Laporta explored joining the agreement with CVC on a couple of occasions. Finally, he decided to activate the already famous ‘levers’, obtaining the financing the club needed through other means.

Juventus has left the Super League

This surprising movement by the Catalans comes at a delicate moment for Real Madrid’s alliances, given that this week Juventus decided to abandon the Super League project led by Florentino Pérez and there are increasingly persistent rumors that Barça is seriously considering taking the same decision, which would leave the whites completely alone.

In March 2022, the court already rejected the claim of these three clubs to stop the injection of money to the clubs until there was a final sentence. The magistrate justified in her order that “the principle of minimum interference should prevail until the final decision”, in a decision endorsed just three months ago by the Provincial Court of Madrid.

Today, another court, the first instance court number 47 in Madrid, has ruled that there was “a formal defect in the conditions of the call and adoption of the agreement of the LaLiga Assembly on August 12, 2021”, the first in which the possible agreement with CVC is put on the table, as reported by the employers’ association of the Spanish clubs.

A sentence, they affect from LaLiga, which does not enter the substance of the agreement, which is being valued in the court in which Barça has decided to leave Madrid and Athletic alone.
