The German record champions’ personnel planning for the coming season is apparently picking up speed. Now Max Eberl is said to have met with a top performer at Munich. Topic: A contract extension.
What does the FC Bayern Munich squad look like next season? One thing is clear: after a season that was disappointing by Munich standards, there will probably be a change in the team. Various names are already being traded as possible departures. Sports director Max Eberl, in office since March, has his hands full getting the German record champions back to their usual dominance in Germany in 2024/25 through clever transfers.
And Eberl is already working on the squad. Now the pay TV broadcaster Sky is reporting: There is said to have been a secret meeting between the 50-year-old and a Bayern star who is having an up-and-down season.
Accordingly, Eberl met with attacker Leroy Sané in downtown Munich last week. The manager conveyed to the 28-year-old that they would like to extend his contract, which expires in 2025.
“Important building block” of Bavaria’s future
Sané is seen as an important building block of the Bayern team for the coming years. However, numbers have not yet been discussed. According to Sky, Sané is also not averse to staying in Munich. An agreement could possibly be reached before the start of the home European Championship (June 14th).
The offensive player has scored 9 goals and prepared 13 more goals in 39 competitive games so far this season. But all of the goals and 9 assists came in the first half of the season. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel reported weeks ago that Sané was playing in pain. He has been out since the beginning of April with pubic bone inflammation, but is now probably on the verge of a comeback.
