DOrtmund, Leipzig and Leverkusen – these are usually the opponents of FC Bayern in a top game in the Bundesliga. This Saturday it was the surprise third place in the table, SC Freiburg, the only team in German professional football that was still undefeated. She had the chance to set a club record – the SC never made eleven games in a row without a loss.
But it was not enough: The very concentrated Bayern won in front of 75,000 spectators in their stadium, which was sold out for the first time since March 2020, 2: 1 (1: 0) and remain first.
The Freiburg started boldly, the record champions were challenged more than in the Champions League last time. The guests had a chance to take the lead, but Lucas Höler shot past (12th minute). The Munich met the best defense in the league until this match day with only seven goals conceded. Leroy Sané got a free shot, but finished too unplaced (21st).

Under the lettering, CEO Oliver Kahn and club president Herbert Hainer could be seen washing blood-smeared clothes next to a washing machine with the label “FCB AG”. In Kahn’s left hand there was a suitcase full of money with the inscription “You can rely on us”.
Bayern fans have been protesting against FC Bayern’s business relationships with Qatar for a long time. In the host country of the 2022 World Cup, the Munich professionals regularly complete their training camp in winter. In addition, the Qatari airline Qatar Airways has been a major sponsor of Bavaria for several years. The business relationship with the emirate should soon also be a topic at the annual general meeting.
“I saw that there was something hanging,” said coach Julian Nagelsmann after the game: “I have already said that the club is in dialogue and is trying to influence things through dialogue. Not with exclusion or looking away. I think we’ve already made a difference. “
In terms of sport, the players against Freiburg were not impressed by the protest. In the second half, Sané almost hit, Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken parried his long-range shot (54th). Goretzka hit the post a little later. In the final phase, the Munich had numerous chances, the Freiburg barely anything against.
