FC Bayern wins big in Dortmund, but the headlines are dominated by the stroppy Thomas Tuchel. The trainer breaks off an interview because he doesn’t like the opinion of two TV experts. Now one of the two speaks out: Dietmar Hamann.

The dispute had been simmering for a long time, but now it escalated. On Saturday, when Thomas Tuchel and his FC Bayern were in Dortmund and won 4-0. The Munich coach made no secret of his displeasure at the criticism from football experts Lothar Matthäus and Dietmar Hamann. He let the broadcaster Sky know this before and after the game, where he abruptly ended the interview after having a verbal duel with Matthäus and presenter Sebastian Hellmann.

Hamann had accused Tuchel of not developing the team further and there were also differences within the team. He now said that he did not value a personal discussion with the Bayern coach. The 50-year-old referred to Tuchel’s statement, who said about a possible debate that he normally does not meet face-to-face with TV experts.

“I see it the same way. Proximity is bad and not beneficial,” said former Bayern professional Hamann on the “Sky90” program. After all, he agrees with Tuchel on this assessment. When asked about a possible debate at BILD, he said: “I have enough to do in my job.”

“Tuchel has a good sense of humor,” says Hamann

Hamann was surprised at the form of Tuchel’s criticism. “I was a little surprised and amazed by the way it was done. This is also a form of decency. You have to do that on a certain level,” said Hamann – and referred to the achievements of Lothar Matthäus.

According to his own statement, Hamann knows Tuchel from their time together in youth teams, but has not had personal contact with the coach for a long time. “I wouldn’t have a problem having coffee with him, but if not, that’s fine too,” said Hamann. Personally, he has no problem with Tuchel: “I appreciate him very much, he has a good sense of humor.” But he also complained that Tuchel didn’t say “what was bothering him.”
