Bayern youngster showered with praise

The 19-year-old homegrown player plays like an experienced player. Is Pavlovic the longed-for “Holding Six”? Coach Tuchel disagrees.

It was only his ninth Bundesliga game and the third over the full distance, but Bayern teenager Aleksandar Pavlovic once again played confidently like a veteran. Happy to run, able to pass and dangerous to score: After his once again outstanding performance, there was a lot of praise for the 19-year-old homegrown player.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen found the midfielder against Borussia Mönchengladbach (3-1) “wonderful to watch,” and “really great,” praised President Herbert Hainer. And coach Thomas Tuchel enthused: “He plays very confidently, a fine footballer – and more importantly: a super fine guy. Big compliment.”

Pavlovic, who had recently scored the important first goal in Augsburg (3-2), crowned his performance again with the first goal in Munich – his premiere in the Allianz Arena. “I was a ball boy here for several years. To now score a goal in front of these fans is just fantastic,” he said: “FC Bayern means everything to me!”

Tuchel does not see Pavlovic as a “holding six”

And Pavlovic is a real guarantee of victory for the record champions: Whenever he was used in the Bundesliga, he received three points. “It doesn’t surprise me,” said Thomas Müller about the value of his young colleague, “he doesn’t worry too much, but works. He is very strong and hard-working, which is very important in the position, and complements himself with Leon (Goretzka ) very good.”

Can the U20 international even be the “holding six” that Tuchel wants so much? The coach contradicted that Pavlovic was “more of a playing six” like Joshua Kimmich, whom he currently represents, Goretzka or Konrad Laimer, said Tuchel, not the classic clearer.

The bosses were also cautious about all their praise when it came to the upcoming transfer period. “Oh, what’s going on in the summer…” said Dreesen and added: “What I learned from my colleague Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: Always just look at the next games.”
