Unlike the game in Lugano, where FC Lucerne fell behind early, this time they had an optimal start. Already in the 3rd minute, Ciganiks delivered the ball perfectly to Villiger, who scored with a header from close range. Following that, a balanced initial phase developed. Stillhart tested Loretz with a long-range shot after fifteen minutes, but Klidje had the much bigger opportunity, hitting the crossbar with a chip after a sprint.

The guests from Winterthur did not play poorly, had a lot of ball possession, and moved the ball well through their ranks. However, FC Lucerne defended cohesively and did not allow any clear goal-scoring chances. In the 35th minute, Karweina had the chance to make it 2:0, but his shot went just over the goal. A minute later, Karweina dribbled through the penalty area and laid the ball back to Dorn, but his powerful shot also missed the target. Thus, the score remained tight at halftime.

The start of the second half went perfectly, just like in the first. In the 51st minute, Klidje provided Villiger with a model assist, who scored his second goal with a chip shot. After the 2:0, FC Lucerne increasingly took control of the game and had more ball possession. The visitors from Winterthur continued to struggle to make an impact offensively. Stillhart had a notable chance after an hour when he shot from about 20 meters after a beautiful passing combination, but his shot missed narrowly.

About ten minutes before the end, it even became 3:0. Villiger set up Spadanuda, who cleverly let the ball pass. The ball then reached Karweina, who easily scored his debut goal. Almost, the victory could have been even more pronounced, but Rrudhani’s direct shot at the second post went just wide of the goal.

FCL coach Mari Frick said in the “Luzerner Zeitung”: “The early 1:0 played into our hands. We deserved to win by this margin. We are on a good path, but not more than that. We’ve had significant departures, but we’ve started well. We’re still hungry, and that’s important. Lars Villiger is extremely dedicated to the team. He is being rewarded for his training performances at the moment and is on the right track.”
