On December 26, 2016, the St. Petersburg authorities plan to commission the stadium on Krestovsky Island. The total cost of the facility, which began to be built 10 years ago, is about 42 billion rubles. The construction is financed by the city budget. St. Petersburg is the capital of the Confederations Cup, the matches of which will take place in the summer of 2017. Also, the stadium will host the matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
