Berlin In the fight against organized crime, the FDP has advocated the creation of a special “anti-mafia unit”. In a position paper available to the Handelsblatt, the liberals justify this by saying that the responsibilities for combating money laundering in Germany are “fragmented and distributed among too many actors”. Politicians must therefore “have the courage to make a big splash and bundle the core competencies in combating money laundering and enforcing sanctions under one roof,” says the paper, which is to be approved by the party executive committee on Monday.
