Interview Between Time.news Editor and FEAFES Melilla Mental Health Expert
Time.news Editor: Hello, and welcome to our special interview segment! Today, we’re diving into an important topic related to mental health and independent living. I have the privilege of speaking with Dr. Sofia Romero, a leading expert from FEAFES Melilla Mental Health. Thank you for joining us, Dr. Romero!
Dr. Sofia Romero: Thank you for having me! I’m excited to discuss the seminar we recently held on financial management for independent living.
Time.news Editor: That’s great to hear! Can you tell us more about the rationale behind this seminar?
Dr. Sofia Romero: Absolutely. The seminar was part of our project titled “Building mental health: awareness, independent living, and social inclusion.” We’ve recognized that managing finances is a crucial skill for individuals seeking independent living, especially for those facing mental health challenges. This workshop aims to equip participants with fundamental money management skills, fostering greater autonomy.
Time.news Editor: That’s a vital initiative! What specific topics did you cover in the first session of the seminar?
Dr. Sofia Romero: In our first session, we focused on several key areas: general money management principles, the importance of saving, and exploring various saving methods. We incorporated different interactive activities and practical dynamics to make learning engaging and relatable.
Time.news Editor: It sounds like a hands-on approach! Can you share some of the activities that participants engaged in?
Dr. Sofia Romero: Certainly! We utilized role-playing scenarios to simulate real-life financial decisions, such as budgeting for groceries or planning for unexpected expenses. We also introduced group discussions to share personal experiences and strategies, which fostered a supportive environment where everyone could learn from each other.
Time.news Editor: That’s a fantastic way to encourage participation! How has the feedback been from the attendees so far?
Dr. Sofia Romero: The response has been overwhelmingly positive! Many participants expressed that they felt more empowered and knowledgeable about handling their finances. Several mentioned that they appreciated the supportive atmosphere and felt they could comfortably share their financial concerns and aspirations without judgment.
Time.news Editor: Empowerment is crucial in mental health and independent living. What are the next steps for the seminar series?
Dr. Sofia Romero: We plan to continue with additional sessions that will cover advanced topics, such as investment basics and long-term financial planning. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive education that allows participants to feel confident in managing not only their daily expenses but also planning for their future.
Time.news Editor: That sounds incredible! Before we wrap up, is there a message you’d like to share with our readers regarding financial literacy and mental health?
Dr. Sofia Romero: Yes, I’d like to emphasize that financial literacy is a vital component of mental health. Understanding how to manage money can alleviate stress and anxiety, allowing individuals to focus on their overall well-being. We encourage everyone, especially those facing mental health challenges, to seek resources and support that can help them gain confidence in their financial skills.
