Today the Universal Church celebrates the Feast of Divine Mercy, established by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments on May 23, 2000 by indication of Saint John Paul II, to take place on the Second Sunday of Easter.

The objective of this Festival is to reach the hearts of each person the message that God is Merciful and loves everyone.

“I want the Feast of Mercy to be a refuge and protection for all souls and, especially, for poor sinners,” Jesus told Saint Faustina.

“Souls die despite my bitter Passion. I offer you the last table of salvation, that is, the Feast of my Mercy. If they do not adore my mercy, they will die forever”, Christ pointed out to the saint on another occasion.

On this day the faithful can obtain plenary indulgences and in order to properly celebrate this festivity, it is recommended to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
