The crew of the film ‘Olamum Thirvum’ made the 89th birthday of story writer MT Vasudevan Nair, who gave fame and glory to Malayalam in world literature, unforgettable. The Navati celebration was held at the cinema location of Kudayathur near Moolamatt.
MT arrived from Kozhikode at ten in the morning along with his daughter Aswathi V Nair, following the loving insistence of the filmmakers, who are recreating ‘Olamum Thirvum’, which was born in MT’s pen more than half a century ago. He was accepted under the leadership of Mohanlal and Priyadarshan. Spent the day there watching the shooting till 1 am. Meanwhile, the birthday cake arrived. With that, the shooting was given a break and the birthday celebration. MT cut the cake. Mohanlal and Priyadarshan, among others, were sweet to him. Then a birthday party at Tushanila. MT’s daughter Aswathi, Mohanlal, Priyadarshan, Santhosh Sivan, Harish Peradi, Durga Krishna, Surabhilakshmi, Srikanth Murali and others are also present. I took a photo with everyone on the way back. MT was born on 15 July 1933 (Utthritati day in Karkataka).
‘Olamum Theoram’ is a film that created history by taking Malayalam cinema outside the studio. It was directed by PN Menon in 1970. 10 screenplays of MT, including its reimagining, are the Navati Varsas movie. Daughter Aswathi V Nair is directing a film.
