Rising Violence in Mexico City Claims Life of Argentine TV Contestant

A wave of violence gripping Mexico City has claimed the life of Fede Dorcaz, an Argentine actor and model who was a contestant on the upcoming television program The Stars Dance Today. The shooting, which occurred on Thursday, underscores growing concerns about security in the Mexican capital and follows a series of high-profile killings in recent weeks.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC) reported that Dorcaz was fatally shot while driving his vehicle in the Ampliación Daniel Garza neighborhood of the Miguel Hidalgo mayor’s office, along the Periférico Ring. According to initial reports, the attack appeared to be a direct assault carried out by individuals traveling on two motorcycles. Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage to identify the perpetrators.

Recent Surge in High-Profile Crimes

Dorcaz’s death is the latest in a disturbing trend of violence targeting figures connected to the entertainment industry. Just days prior, stylist Miguel de la Mora, also known as Micky Hair, was murdered in the affluent Polanco district. These incidents follow the disappearance and subsequent discovery of the bodies of Colombian singers B-King and Regio Clown on September 17 in Cocotitlán, State of Mexico.

“We join the pain that overwhelms his entire family,” read a statement released by the television program Hoy, confirming Dorcaz’s death on their social networks.

Motives Remain Unclear

The motive behind the attack on Dorcaz remains under investigation. Argentine presenter Javier Ceriani suggested that the 29-year-old may have resisted an attempted carjacking. However, security authorities have not yet confirmed this account, and have released limited details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Dorcaz was in Mexico City preparing to participate in The Stars Dance Today alongside his girlfriend, María Ávila, with the program scheduled to premiere on Monday. The escalating violence raises serious questions about safety for residents and visitors alike, and is likely to intensify scrutiny of law enforcement efforts in the region.
